Based on the sighting of the new crescent in many Muslim countries, as well as based on our stand of adopting the international sighting of the moon; We hereby announce that today, Thursday July 19th, 2012, will be the last day of the Month of Sha`ban in the year 1433 after the Hijra. Insha’Allah, Friday, the 20th of July, will therefore be the first day of the Holy month of Ramadan.
The committee of Masjid As-Salam decided to go with the global vision of the moon and declared the first day of Ramadan 1433 on Friday, July 20th, 2012. Other mosques and organizations in the community had chosen to start Ramadan on Saturday 21st, 2012. May Allah accept from us all.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all, and your families, a very blessed Ramadan. May Allah Taala make it easy for us, change the conditions of Muslims around the world to the best, bringing the obedience of Allah, faith and safety, peace and prosperity to all Muslims and to accept our fast, prayers, recitations and all of our good deeds in this holy month of Ramadan and beyond, and to continue to shower us with His mercy and blessings.

le mois de ramadan arrive à grand pas! Prenez l’habitude de multiplier les bonnes actions et voici 10 idées qui vous serviront insha’Allah :
- Donne un Coran à quelqu’un et chaque fois qu’il lit dedans tu collectes des Hassanates. Masjid As-Salam peut vous aider a envoyer les Qurans.
- Apprends à quelqu’un une Dou’a ou un verset du Coran, à chaque fois qu’il le récite tu collectes des Hassanates.
- Donne un outil à un Hôpital ou une association (ex: chaise roulante) et chaque fois qu’un malade l’utilise tu collectes des Hassanates.
- Partage des Lectures constructives avec les autres.
- Aide un enfant dans ses études (cours particuliers ou financement des études).
- comme cadeau un CD de Coran, Hadith ou Dou’a.
- Participe à la construction d’une mosquée.
- Donne à manger aux démunis.
- Plante un Arbre. Chaque fois qu’une personne en mange les fruits, utilise son ombre, ou qu’un oiseau en bénéficie, tu es gagnant.
- Partage ce texte avec tes frères et soeurs filillah, si quelqu’un applique ce qu’il y a dedans tu récoltes des Hassanates innombrables jusqu’au jour de la résurrection insha Allah.

This is to let you know that we didn’t receive any sighting reports on the 29th of Rajab, 1433, 19th of June 2012. However, we received many sighting reports on Wednesday, June 20th. Therefore, Thursday, June 21st, is the first day of Shaaban, 1433.
The Muslim Council of Montreal will observe moonsighting reports for the month of Ramadan on Thursday, the 29th of Shaaban, 1433, which is the 19th of July, 2012. Moonsighting reports are not expected that night and the announcement will be made by Ishaa time (no later than 10:30 pm,) in shaa Allah.
May Allah SWT make us all reach Ramadan in high degree of iman, happiness and good health.

Unfortunately, As-Salam mosque was devastated by a dreadful flood three days ago. Everything has been completely destroyed and we are in dire need of renovations
Please help by contributing whatever amount you possibly can, because this Masjid needs all the help we can get! Keep in mind that this is the only mosque in the heart of downtown! May Allah swt bless you for your all your help, Ameen!
